Unisport-Saltex strengthens its position and aims at the European markets

The merger of Unisport-Saltex Oy and Kerko Group Oy with its subsidiaries creates the market leader in sports and exercise facility services with 100 years of strong history. The newly formed joint company’s aim is to reach significant growth in sales and to become the leading North European one-stop service partner whose sports facility concepts provide the best environment for athletes as well as spectators.

Unisport-Saltex is a leading distributor and installer in artificial grass, sports flooring and spectator seating in Scandinavia.

Kerko Group is specialized in interior design, equipment and services for indoor sports facilities. By having own production or using partners they can offer a complete range of products such as sports hall interior, flooring, seating, and equipment for special halls, such as gymnastics and ice rinks. Beyond this, they have a wide range of equipment for various sports. Kerko Group’s subsidiaries include, among others, Rantzows Sport, a leading Swedish sports facility and equipment provider established in 1926.

Together Unisport-Saltex and Kerko Group can serve their clients with a complete one-stop service. This means comprehensive service concepts, which include tailor-made indoor and outdoor sports facilities from design to turn-key delivery. It also means equipment and maintenance service throughout the products’ life cycle. The merger creates significant benefits, such as continuous product development, own production, superior project management and service as well as strong brands.

In an industry characterized by many small operators, the merger creates better possibilities for future growth and developing customer-driven solutions. In the development of new concepts, the clientele, mainly municipalities and sports clubs, expect deep knowledge of the different needs of the various end-users as well as management of environmental aspects.

– We welcome Kerko’s people, products and concepts to join us. We already serve the same clientele, and together we offer more comprehensive solutions, world-class service and can develop better environments for athletes and spectators, says Mikko Kilpeläinen, CEO of Unisport-Saltex Oy and the new joint company.

– We have been in the sports business for 100 years and we see this as a natural step in seeking new growth. We are very excited about the merger”, says Pekka Ahonen, CEO of Kerko Group Oy.
