ENEGIA TO SHARPEN ITS STRATEGY – FOCUS ON ENERGY MANAGEMENT AND ENERGY WHOLE SALE MARKET SERVICES

Friday 03.11.2017

Enegia is going to sharpen its strategy and focus on energy management services built around EnerKey and, on the other hand, energy portfolio management, electricity balance management and control center services. In connection with this, Enegia and Norwegian Eneas have on 2 November 2017 signed a deal with which the entire Enegia Market Services Oy and Enegia Sweden Ab are transferred to the ownership of the Norwegian Eneas Services As. As a result of the sale of the Remote Management business conducted earlier this week, this transaction, which was made yesterday, will further clarify Enegia’s focus and enables the development and growth of energy management and energy market services.

Kalle Ahlstedt, CEO of Enegia announced, “The deal will take Enegia forward with the provision of energy management and energy wholesale market services presenting Enegia with the best growth opportunities. At the same time, Enegia as an entity will be simplified and sharpened, whereby also partnerships, particularly related to EnerKey, will play an even more important role in the future. In this respect, it is worth mentioning the cooperation agreement with Caverion, which was signed earlier this week. It is a good indication that EnerKey and the entire Enegia are both attractive to both customers and partners. And open up good growth opportunities internationally. This is a good place to continue!”

“Acquiring Enegia Market Services Oy and Enegia Sweden Ab is natural next step for Eneas Group, which already has strong market positions in Norway and Sweden. We look forward to working with suppliers and employees – new and old – to further improve and expand the services provided to customers in Finland. Through this acquisition Eneas confirms its position as the clear market leader in energy brokerage and energy services to SME businesses in the Nordics”, says Thomas Hakavik, CEO of Eneas Group.

Enegia is one of the leading independent, energy expert organizations in the Nordic countries. More than half of Finland’s top 100 companies use Enegia’s services, and in 2016, the net sales of the service business were about 16.8 million euros. Enegia’s electricity trading volume is 15 TWh, which is about a one fifth of Finland’s electricity consumption. Enegia’s EnerKey system is the leading energy information and energy process management information system in the Nordic countries. The system uses about 300 organizations and manages the consumption data of 75,000 measuring points in 13,000 properties. The majority owner of Enegia is the Finnish private equity company Vaaka Partners Oy.

In 2007, the company set up its own procurement service unit focusing on purchasing electricity for SMEs with the best contractual terms. Today, Eneas Energy Broker covers already 15,000 corporate customers in the Nordic countries. In addition to electricity supply, Eneas also offers other comprehensive services to its large and rapidly growing customer base. Eneas came to Finland in spring 2017 after purchasing the Yrittäjäin Sähkönhankinta Oy of Tampere.
